Keep your supplies handy
In order to pack and move your kitchen, you need to decide well in advance the moving supplies you will be needing. You will be needing a bubble wrap and blankets to pack fragile items. Moreover, you will be needing small to medium-sized boxes, old newspapers, towels, marker pen, and packing tape. You can save a lot of time by buying these supplies in advance.
Start packing small but heavy items in your kitchen
You need to prepare the boxes before you start putting things in them. Tape them outside so that the walls don’t break upon putting heavy kitchen items like pans, pots, and dishes. Place your heavy utensils at the bottom of the box. Pack them together with their respective lids to save time while unpacking them.
Take care of the breakable items
While packing your kitchenware, you should put breakable items such as cups and dishes at the top in the boxes. This reduces the chances of your expensive glassware from smashing under the weight of heavier items. After packing, consider putting crumbled old newspapers in the empty spaces to provide a cushioning effect. Tape up the box properly so that it doesn’t open while moving.

However, you should pack your kitchen furniture after you pack smaller items and appliances so that you know how much space would be needed. Pack shelves and drawers
It’s natural to have messy drawers and shelves in the kitchen. You may want to get rid of unwanted and useless items before you start packing your drawers and shelves. Don’t move items you haven’t used in the past six months or so. You won’t use them in your new house either. After you segregate all items, put them in boxes after wrapping the breakable ones with newspaper or bubble wrap. Tape up the box after you are done with the packing.
Pack appliances
Kitchen appliances such as electric cooker, refrigerator, microwave, oven, and so on can be packed 24 hours prior to the move. You need to prepare your appliances before moving them lest they might be damaged. Make sure you have the user manuals of all your appliances handy for reference. If you have the original boxes, packing them shouldn’t be difficult. But if you don’t have them, you might have to arrange for appropriate boxes. Wrap the appliances with moving blankets before putting them in boxes. You can also use towels for smaller appliances. These precautions will ensure that your expensive electronics are moved to your new house safely.
Label each box
After you have packed all your kitchenware and put them in separate boxes, make sure you label them with a marker pen. Labeling each box would help you identify which box contains what and save a lot of time while unpacking. For example, you can label the box containing your china and dishes as “Fragile” so that you don’t mishandle that box. A label also ensures the safety of your belongings if you are hiring a professional mover.
